Now that we have created the Account and User, we now need to order the phone number that will be associated with the account and set it up so that it swaps under the right conditions.
On the left-hand main menu click on "Settings" then on "Numbers". Click on the "Request a new tracking number" button to initiate the setup.
In most cases, you will be clicking on the "On My Website" option.
On my website: Ability to add settings for dynamic number swap
Adwords Call Extension: Number will be used on Call Extension only, no number swap settings for the website.
Anywhere else: Can be used for other marketing initiatives such as print, radio etc.
Type in the "Source Name" as something that is easily identifying for where the call will be coming from. This name will show in the Call Log next to each call.
Enter the "Destination Number" - the phone number that is going to receive the incoming phone calls. Make sure to use the country code in front of the phone number e.g. 64 for NZ and 61 for AUS.
Select source of traffic that will determine how the number will dynamically change out.
Search: You can choose whether this is Organic or Paid traffic, and choose the search engine the traffic will come from.
Web Referrals: Visitors coming in from a specific website e.g. Facebook.
Landing Params: You can manually tag the URLs via UTM tagging. Enter the UTM tag you are using here, and the number will swap only when this tag is present.
Direct: Number changes when people visit the website directly - without going to another website or search engine first. They simply enter the URL into the browser directly.
Always swap: Show tracking number to all visitors regardless of source
In this section, you will select the number which will display after the number swap occurs. In the box on the top right, select the country, enter the digits you would like the phone number to start with.
Step 1: In the box on the top right, select the country, enter the digits you would like the phone number to start with. Click on the magnifying glass icon to confirm your settings and the available phone numbers based on your filters will show in the list.
Step 2: Choose the phone number you want to purchase by selecting the checkbox next to the desired phone number.
Step 3: Click "Continue" once happy with your choice.
Choose the additional settings you want to be associated with your new number. Use the settings shown in the screenshot.
Record Calls: The phone call will be recorded when someone dials in and is connected.
Whisper Message: Before the call is connected, the client will hear a message letting them know where the call has come from. E.g. "This is a call from Adwords"
Integration into Analytics: Add the Analytics ID so that the call event data is pushed through to Google Analytics.
Set Up Notifications: Turn notifications on for Missed Calls, and select the user from the list who will receive the notifications by email.
Voicemail: Leave off unless the client does not have their own voicemail system.
Click "continue" when done.
Confirm your order, double check all the settings are the way you want them. When you are happy with everything, click on "Order" to finalise the number settings.
