If you would like to view and report on the paid keywords associated with your calls in the WildJar portal, you can do this by adding an additional query parameter to your campaign URLs. The two types of parameters you can use are outlined below.
Tip: If your final URL already contains a question mark (?) followed by a query parameter, prefix the next parameter with a '&' symbol.
Note: Changes to Apple's App Tracking Transparency policy in April 2021 have restricted ValueTrack parameters from providing keywords on Apple iOS 14.5 or later.
ValueTrack parameters
ValueTrack parameters allow us to capture additional information about your ad at the time of the click. You can add the ValueTrack parameters in one of two ways:
- Append the parameter ?keyword={keyword} to your Final URL.
Eg. http://www.wildjar.com?keyword={keyword} - Use tracking templates to add the keyword parameter to your URLs at the account (recommended), campaign or ad group level.
Eg. {lpurl}?keyword={keyword}
UTM parameters
If you are manually tagging your campaigns with UTM parameters, we can use the utm_term parameter to capture keywords. You can do this by appending the &utm_term={keyword} parameter to your Final URL.
Eg. http://www.wildjar.com.au?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=WJ&utm_term={keyword}
Note: The curly braces around the {keyword} value are required for keyword capturing. If you are using Google's Campaign URL Builder, it will change { and } to plain text %7B and %7D respectively - ensure you update these back to { and } before using in your campaign.
